The park entry fee: what the park head said in October 2024

Searches for the Komodo National Park entry fee 2026 land on many different numbers, and the visit quota itself began on April 1, 2026.4 So start with the one an official stated. In an October 2024 briefing reported by ANTARA, the head of the park authority said the tariff is set in Government Regulation 36 of 2024, which replaced Regulation 12 of 2014 from October 30, 2024.5 For foreign visitors he gave the ticket as Rp250,000 per person, on weekdays and on holidays, and it covers trekking, wildlife viewing and snorkeling.1

The same briefing gave Indonesian visitors at Rp50,000 on weekdays and Rp75,000 on holidays, a separate ticket of Rp25,000 per person per activity for diving, and a charge of Rp2 million per unit per day for flying a drone, listed alongside the ticket prices.6,2,7 The statements about the new quota that ANTARA carried mention no change to those prices, so they are the latest figures we found. This is a statement from that briefing, not a current tariff sheet, so check the price with your operator or the park office before you travel.

Two cautions apply. A ticket price is not the whole cost of a visit, because guides, boats and meals sit on top of it, and none of those is in the regulation's figures. And the way visits are limited has changed: the visit limit is run through the park authority's SiOra app.8 Ask your operator what your trip price includes before you assume the ticket is covered, and ask how and when the ticket is paid.

Why one gate seems to have four prices

Indonesia.Travel says a visitor to Rinca pays an entrance fee of around IDR 50,000, excluding the mandatory guide fee.11 In 2022 the tourism minister said the entrance fee still followed Regulation 12 of 2014, at around Rp150,000.9 The 2024 regulation gives foreign visitors Rp250,000.1 And a one-day listing on this site's own route asks guests to prepare cash of 400,000 rupiah per person for the park entrance ticket.

These figures are not all wrong; they describe different things. One is a figure for a single island on a ministry page that does not say whose ticket it describes, one is an older regulation, one is the foreign ticket as the park head stated it and one is an operator's request for cash, whose contents the listing does not itemize. The Indonesian ticket for a weekday under the 2024 tariff is Rp50,000,6 the same number the ministry's page quotes for Rinca. Ask each operator what its figure covers.

There was also a number that never took effect. In 2022 a plan to raise the park entry fare by Rp3.75 million from January 1, 2023 was officially canceled.10 That is the number behind any story of a gigantic Komodo entrance fee: it was proposed, it was dropped, and it was never the gate price. If a page tells you that the fee for a foreigner is a million rupiah or more, ask for the regulation behind it before you believe it.

The daily quota and what it changes at the pier

Since April 1, 2026 the park has a visit quota of 1,000 visitors a day, or approximately 365,000 a year, set to protect the local ecosystem.3,4,12 The quota focuses on Padar, Rinca and Komodo Islands, including 23 surrounding dive sites.13 The quota is not a price. It is a limit on how many people can be in the park, and it is the reason the booking system matters more than it used to.

The park agency recorded 429,509 visitors in 2025, 68 percent of them international, and a 2022 study set the yearly carrying capacity of land and water at 378,870 visitors.14,15 By island the study gave 187,245 people for Komodo, 44,165 for Rinca and 17,885 for Padar.16 The agency says reef conditions are declining under the surge of visitors and that human activity can reduce the alertness of the dragons.17,18

Padar is to run three sessions a day, morning, midday and afternoon, with a maximum of 300 visitors in each.19 The head of the authority has said the 1,000 figure is not absolute: days under it can be carried over to busy months.20 The practical effect for a traveler is simple: book your trip early for busy months, choose free cancellation, and ask your operator which session your group has instead of arriving at the pier hoping for one.

What a day-trip price covers and what it leaves out

The day trip this site sells is listed from $93 for a 10-hour fast-boat day with a English-speaking Komodo guide and pickup included, and has 1,663 reviews rated 4.74. Cancelling is free up to 24 hours ahead, and payment can wait until later. The listing does not say that the park ticket is part of that price, while a comparable one-day listing asks for cash of 400,000 rupiah per person for the ticket. Ask before you book what is and is not inside the price.

The other day listings sit close by. A dragons-focused day is listed from $82, with 568 reviews rated 4.74. The one-day listing that asks for cash is listed from $99, with 657 reviews rated 4.82. An 8-hour shared speedboat day is listed from $93, with 324 reviews rated 4.86. An 11-hour day whose title says it comes with all fees is listed from $135, with 65 reviews rated 4.52.

Each price here is a from price per person, and the figure for your date, boat and group can differ. Length matters as much as price. The speedboat day is listed at 8 hours, against 10 and 11 for two of the others, with a pickup between 5:30 and 6:15 AM and a return to the harbor between 3:00 and 4:00 PM. Compare the hours you get for the money, not only the number on the button.

Overnight, sailing and liveaboard: where the price jumps

Sleeping on the water changes the scale. The 2-day shared-boat listing, with a night on board in a shared cabin, is listed from $179, with 384 reviews rated 4.26. A 3-day sailing tour for small groups of up to 4 on a traditional Phinisi boat is listed from $312, with 55 reviews rated 4.80. A 3-day budget liveaboard in a shared cabin is listed from $252, with 24 reviews rated 4.62.

That budget liveaboard is limited to 16 participants in a shared cabin with a shared bathroom, and its listing says the park entrance fee must be paid in advance because the authorities limit the number of visitors per day. That matches the quota: a limit on daily visitors makes a ticket something to arrange ahead of the day. The 2-night Phinisi listing is booked by boat category, Superior, Deluxe or Luxury, and is listed from $836.

Private boats sit higher still: a private 2-day, 1-night boat trip with an overnight stay on board is listed from $926. The reviews thin out as the price rises, so read what each listing includes: cabins, meals, guides and fees are the four lines that move the total. For a traveler who wants the dragons, Padar and snorkeling without an overnight, the day trip is the economical version and the overnight is the slow one.

Budget checklist

Money items to settle before you pay

Ask your boat operator4

  • Is the park ticket inside the price or extra?
  • Is the ticket paid in cash, and when?
  • What does the guide fee cover?
  • Which meals and drinks are included?

Add to the price3

  • A separate dive ticket if you dive
  • A drone charge if you fly one
  • Rupiah in small notes for small costs

Protect the booking3

  • Pick free cancellation up to 24 hours before
  • Book early for the busy months
  • Ask for your time slot in the quota

Putting a budget together for your own trip

Start with the trip price in your own currency, then add the lines that sit outside it. If the listing does not include the park ticket, that is the foreign ticket the park head gave in 2024, written in rupiah.1 If you dive, add the separate diving ticket.2 If you fly a drone, add the drone charge.7 Keep the two currencies apart in your head: the listing prices are shown in the currency you choose, and the park tickets are written in rupiah by the authority.

Then add cash for the small things. One listing asks for cash for the park ticket, so carry some rupiah from the airport, and treat drinks, tips for the crew and a rinse-off at the harbor as extras to budget for yourself. The main day trip lists pickup and a live guide, so you do not need a separate ride to the pier. Allow for change too: the order of stops may vary with weather, sea conditions and park regulations.

Finally, protect the booking. The main day trip, the 2-day shared boat and the 3-day sailing tour can each be cancelled free up to 24 hours ahead, and each can be reserved now with payment later. Komodo Island may be temporarily closed, especially in November, December and January, and the itinerary or date adjusted if so. A cancellable booking keeps your options open, so choose one, and look at the calculator at the top of this page once you know your group size.
